The handbook was written with the goal of educating the next generation of community arts leaders (Korza & Brown, 2007). Whereas Shore’s guide did not have long-lasting usage, Fundamentals of Arts Management is still one of the most used resources for training purposes. The emphasis of the handbook is on community and the role arts can play in it. Even though the basic principles of management are adopted and included in the handbook, aspects of the connections between arts and community are highlighted: community organizing; arts and economy; cultural advocacy; programming; and participation.
