The climate models predict that global temperatures will rise by 3°C by 2100 under business as usual emissions; in the UK, scenarios commissioned by the government suggest a range of changes for the periods 2020s, 2050s, and 2080s. 5°C (in South East England) (Hulme et al, 2002).
