Conclusion and Outlook In this paper, a simulation system for the five-axis milling of free-formed surfaces was presented. The described modeling techniques with an implicit representation of the undeformed chip shape and the computation of the dynamic interactions between cutting edges and workpiece allow a detailed analysis and optimization of arbitrary NC programs.
